Matthew Matt James was born in North Carolina on December 5 1991. Matthew Matt James is the son of Manny James, along with Patty James of mixed race. He has his Nigerian father as well as a Caucasian mother. In 2010, James graduated at Sanderson High School and furthered to Wake Forest University where he earned a bachelor's degree in Economics in 2015. James' fame kick-started after he appeared on screen for his debut as an on-screen reality television star for The Bachelorette. In the year 2020, he was selected to play the role of bachelor for The Bachelor's season 25, making him The only African American male lead which will premiere in 2021. James's appearance, size and sense of humor made him a good fit to play the role. Rachael Krkconnell has been chosen to play his partner during the entire season. He joined forces with famed professional dancer Arnold in 2021. They competed on season 30 of Dancing with the Stars. James and Arnold placed 12th on the show.
